The Atlas Mountains have long been home to Amazigh communities whose villages, terraces, irrigation systems and seasonal movement adapted to altitude and limited water. Local architecture, agricultural calendars, oral traditions and collective institutions remain central to regional identity.

Best time to visit

Spring and autumn suit many valley walks. Summer is cooler at altitude than Marrakech, while winter can bring snow and restricted access on high routes.
